Burundian history
The demographics of Burundi through years of 1960s and 1970s were roughly 86 percent Hutu, 13 percent Tutsi, and 1 percent the pygmies called the Twa. However, for most of this period the Tutsi people maintained a near monopoly on senior military and government positions. The Country gained its independence in 1962; in May 1965 the first post-independence elections were held favoring the Hutu candidates who scored a landslide victory, capturing 23 seats out of a total 33. Instead of a Hutu prime minister being appointed, the president appointed one of his Tutsi friends. October 18, 1965 the Hutus become angry with the king's decision thus attempting a coup; that caused the king to flee the country, never to return, but the coup ultimately failed.

Christian ministry for vulnerable person!

Burundi Civil War
The civil war was an armed conflict lasting from year 1993 to year 2005. The war was as a result of long standing ethnic conflict between the Hutu and the Tutsi tribes. The divisions began following the first multiparty elections in the country since gaining independence from its colonial masters the Belgians in 1962 and are seen as formally ending with the swearing in of President Pierre Nkurunziza in August 2005 and had a real election in 2010 for another 5 term in office. Burundian's ethnic civil war is nearing a conclusion and now entering its 11th year; the conflict has killed at least 300,000 people and forced more than 1 million to flee their homes in search of refuge in neighboring counties.

As a result of the Civil War the C.S.V.P.C.D Compassion Ministry focuses on providing hope and a future to destitute/displaced members of our society, orphaned children, widows and HIV/AIDS cases, We strive to provide food, shelter, education, health care and a home that is free from conflict, abuse and exploitation.
Let us join hands in being partners in action that they may have life and have it in abundance!
